"Most of my painting work has its beginnings in nature, order and patterns of natural growth. I use photography, drawing and digital technology to explore, doing some work directly outside, but I prefer to take photographs and let them distill before I start to paint.
My inspiration comes from where I live here in the north east of the UK and particularly down the coastline. The countryside here is not always cute or accessible but has an edge and an integrity that constantly keeps me attached to it."
